When I started my career in science at a very young age, I honestly wanted so badly to work with insects. I found them profoundly diverse and beautiful creatures. I still share this view to this day. But somewhere along my path I became enamored by the diversity that plants hold as well. Not just from an environmental perspective, but from a physiological one too. Once I found my love for plant science, agriculture was an easy, logical, and practical fit for me as a career. I would have never seen myself here just 5 years ago, but I am very happy that this field has found me. It has given me a much larger viewpoint of how our environment can affect human life every single day. From the smallest methylotroph to the tallest corn plant. Science rules!
